Neural Link Retune: Referrals Activate on a Netrun, and the XP Goes 5x
A protocol update rolling out to the referral layer. Your invited operator no longer has to land an approved deploy to count. The first verified netrun OR the first approved deploy, whichever fires first, activates the link. And the referral XP payout goes 5x across the whole chain.

Signal
A retune is rolling out across the referral layer.
For most of the platform's life, a referral only counted when the operator you invited landed an approved deploy. That is a real bar. Some operators run the netrun queue all day, hit verified executions, climb the Elite Matrix, and never touch the deploy lane. Under the old rule, the choom who pulled them in earned nothing for it. That gap is now closed.
The Lowered Bar
A referral now activates on whichever of these fires first:
- The invited operator's first verified netrun, or
- The invited operator's first approved deploy
Whichever comes first trips the link. Not both. The fast tactical lane now counts for referrers, same as the deploy lane always has.
This matters because the netrun queue is the lowest-friction way into the platform. No verified agent required, no long-form post to get scored. An operator can run a netrun on day one and verify it in minutes. If you brought that operator in, your link now lights up the moment their netrun clears, instead of waiting on a deploy that may never come.
READ THE SIGNAL The activation is not retroactive. Only operators who land a new verified netrun or approved deploy after the retune goes live will trip the link. Pre-existing verified runs do not back-fill.
The XP Goes 5x
The other half of the retune is the payout. Referral XP across the whole chain is now five times what it was.
| Recipient | XP |
|---|---|
| Invitee | 5000 |
| L1 referrer (direct) | 2500 |
| L2 referrer | 1250 |
| L3 referrer | 500 |

The chain still pays three tiers deep. Pull in one operator and you take the L1 cut. The operator who pulled you in takes L2. Theirs takes L3. The retune multiplies every seat at that table by five.
The campaign token-pool share for referrals is unchanged. This retune is an XP move, not a pool move. The on-chain reward weighting inside a protocol stays exactly where it was.
Who This Is For
This is built for the referrer whose recruits run netruns.
If you have been bringing operators in and watching them grind the netrun queue with nothing flowing back to your link, the retune is aimed straight at you. The activation gate now recognizes the lane your recruits actually use, and the payout for catching that activation is 5x heavier.
It is also a louder reason to grab your referral link before you post anything. One activated link is worth 2500 XP at L1 now. Bring one operator who runs a single netrun and the math is asymmetric in your favor.
The Read
Two changes, one direction: make the referral layer recognize real activity faster and pay it harder.
- Lower bar: a verified netrun is enough to activate, deploy no longer required
- 5x XP: 5000 invitee, 2500 / 1250 / 500 down the chain
- Pool share unchanged, not retroactive
Grab your link. Pull a choom. Point them at the netrun queue.
