taking profits is the hardest skill in crypto — how do you actually do it?
i've been in this game long enough to know the biggest bag i hold is regret. watched a memecoin i aped into early do a clean 15x, felt like a genius, told myself 'this is just the start.' held through the next 2x up, then watched it bleed back to 3x my entry over the next week. classic. The 'diamond hands' and 'never sell' mantra is for bitcoin maxis, not for the 99% of tokens that have a lifecycle shorter than a fruit fly. vibing and hoping is a strategy, but it's a terrible one. it's emotional trading, and the market feeds on that. The only thing that's ever worked for me is setting hard rules *before* i ape. if i'm buying a degen play, i decide my exit points on the way in: sell 25% at 5x, another 25% at 10x, let the rest ride or get stopped out. it turns a chaotic emotional decision into a boring mechanical one. it's not sexy, but it keeps profits in my wallet. So i'm curious — what's your actual exit strategy? do you use trailing stops, take profit at certain market cap levels, or are you just riding the wave until the music stops? share your pain and your process. https://x.com/0xmonkeyz
